The Librarian : Quest for the Spear  is a 90-minute action adventure produced by Electric Entertainment for Turner Network Television (TNT) (a Time Warner company).

The film is directed by Peter Winther, who has worked as executive producer on Electric Entertainment's Eight Legged Freaks  and was co-producer/associate producer of Centropolis' The Patriot , Godzilla , ID4 , Stargate  and TV series The Visitor .

When a magical artifact is lifted from his library, a meek librarian sets out to ensure its safe return. To do so, however, he enlists the service of a woman with exceptional martial arts skills - who becomes the enforcer in the relationship.

The film stars Noah Wyle as the title character, who also appears in TV series Emergency Room  as Dr. John Carter.

The Librarian  was the highest rated movie on cable in 2004.

The Librarian  was shown on German TV May 29, 2005, under the title The Quest - Jagd nach dem Speer des Schicksals  on RTL, and is available on region 2 DVD since May 30.
